Perrie & Alex — A Wedding in Estoi, Portugal

In Estoi, in the Algarve, Perrie Edwards and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain brought family and friends together for a wedding whose quieter moments felt every bit as memorable as its grand ones. The church, the lace, the music and the colour all had their place. So did the pauses between them.

The morning in Estoi

Perrie had always pictured herself in lace. Her Dana Harel gown, found at Browns Bride in London, had a long train and delicate sleeves that could be removed as the Portuguese day grew warmer. In the photographs, the dress shifts with the light: a portrait at the window, a detail beneath the veil, a moment before everyone gathered at the church.

A church full of feeling

The ceremony took place in the village church in Estoi, with 140 guests invited to share the weekend. Perrie told British Vogue that seeing Alex turn towards her at the altar was a moment she would never forget. The photographs hold the scale of the church and the emotion inside it, then follow the two of them back out into the Algarve light.

Outside, petals and coloured smoke gave the celebration a sudden change of pace. There was champagne, ice cream and a Portuguese guitarist in the courtyard. The day had room for ceremony, but it was always meant to be lived.

From first dance to late night

Music ran through the celebration: a sextet at the church and a 16-piece band at the reception. Perrie changed into a crystal-embellished Galia Lahav gown for the first dance, then into a custom Annie’s Ibiza minidress made for the freedom of the dance floor. For all the scale of the day, what remains is personal: a look across the aisle, a hand reaching out, a few seconds under the veil, and the joy of having everyone close.
